Montana: Waste

The Department of Environmental Quality proposed amendments to regulations governing the Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Board. The amendments would revise provisions pertaining to third-party review of claims and corrective action plans, and clean up administrative rules that are no longer utilized. A hearing will be held January 17, 2024. Comments are due January 22, 2024.

Mississippi: Natural Resources

The Oil and Gas Board adopted amendments to regulations concerning surface casing. The amendments require that a proposed surface casing program, proposed cement program, and proposed mud disposal program for any well be submitted with the filing of Form No. 2 (Application to Drill).

Maryland: Energy

The Department of Environment proposed to adopt new regulations governing building energy performance standards. The regulations would require covered building owners to measure and report data to the Department and meet specific net direct greenhouse gas emissions and energy use intensity standards, and establish recordkeeping and reporting requirements for electric and gas companies and district energy providers. A hearing will be held January 18, 2024. Comments are due the same date.

Maryland: Climate Change

The Department of Environment adopted regulations implementing California’s Advanced Clean Trucks Program. The regulations require manufacturers of vehicles in weight Classes 2b-8 to meet an annual zero emission vehicle (ZEV) requirement intended to increase the percentage of ZEVs sold in Maryland.
