EPA modified an existing CERCLA settlement between the Agency and the prospective purchaser for the Koppers Co., Inc. Superfund National Priorities List site in Charleston, South Carolina, to add a newly acquired parcel not previously included in the agreement.

EPA established initial air quality designations for certain areas in the United States for the 2010 primary sulfur dioxide NAAQS. 

EPA issued its semiannual regulatory agenda to update the public about regulations and major policies currently under development, reviews of existing regulations and major policies, and rules and major policymakings completed or canceled since the last agenda.

United States v. XTRA Intermodal, Inc., No. 3:21-cv-00339 (S.D. Ill. Mar. 30, 2021). A settling CERCLA defendant must reimburse past and future response costs and natural resource damages in connection with the Old American Zinc Plant Superfund site in Fairmont City and Washington Park, Illinois, to be satisfied through a $2 million monetary payment, sale of the portion of the site currently owned by the defendant, and attempted recovery of insurance proceeds. 

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management adjusted the maximum daily civil monetary penalties for violations of OPA and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to account for inflation. 

EPA entered into a proposed administrative settlement agreement under CERCLA concerning recovery of the Agency's past response costs at the AMD Building 915 Superfund site in Sunnydale, California.
