Washington: Air

The Department of Ecology proposed to adopt new regulations governing landfill methane emissions. The regulations would establish requirements for municipal solid waste landfills concerning, among other things, technology and performance, monitoring, and reporting and recordkeeping. Washington: Waste

The Department of Ecology adopted amendments to regulations governing USTs. The amendments add a provision allowing for the use of a state fund or other state assurance program to demonstrate financial responsibility for cleaning up UST releases and compensating third parties for bodily injury and property damage caused by the release. Tennessee: Waste

The Underground Storage Tanks and Solid Waste Disposal Control Board proposed amendments to regulations governing solid waste processing and disposal. The amendments would, among other things, clarify the difference between major and minor landfill modifications, define appurtenances and associated buffer requirements, clarify the permitting process, and update the definition of "medical waste." A hearing will be held January 9, 2024. Comments are due January 12, 2024.

Oklahoma: Natural Resources

The Department of the Commissioners of the Land Office proposed amendments to regulations governing the sale and operation of hard-rock mining and other mineral leases. The amendments would revise and modernize regulations pertaining to the leasing of public lands managed by the Commissioners of the Land Office, for the purpose of hard-rock mining and the extraction of minerals other than oil and natural gas. A hearing will be held December 19, 2023. Comments are due December 15, 2023.

Ohio: Natural Resources

The Department of Natural Resources proposed amendments to regulations governing industrial minerals surface mining rules. The amendments would remove and clarify regulatory restrictions, eliminate fees, and update the publication dates of the Code of Federal Regulations and the U.S. Code. A hearing will be held December 18, 2023. Comments are due December 19, 2023.
