The Environmental Protection Commission proposed to amend Chapter 67 concerning standards for the land application of sewage sludge. The proposed amendments would modify the sludge rules to align with federal law; clarify definitions and other land application requirements; and update the sewage sludge classifications, terms, land application pathogen reduction methods, and sludge testing methods. A hearing will be held December 9, 2021. Comments are due December 13, 2021.

The Department of Environmental Quality proposed amendments to Or. Admin. R. 340-096-0140. The proposed amendments would address the need for a consistent approach to pathogen reduction standards for digestate applied to soil on farms and correct oversight of these standards as adopted in 2013.
