The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will hold two public hearings on amendments to 1200-05-01, Public Water Systems. Proposed changes would limit the duplicate disinfection requirement pertaining to noncommunity systems such that only those that have demonstrated problems with maintaining disinfection must meet the requirement and require wholesale systems to meet levels of 0.048 mg/l total trihalomethanes (TTHM) and 0.036 mg/l haloacetic acids (HAA5) to demonstrate enhanced coagulation where consecutive systems are not meeting the maximum contaminant levels for TTHM or HAA5. The hearings will be held October 14 and 15, 2008. Comments are due October 24, 2008. http://www.tn.gov/sos/rules_filings/08-14-08.pdf.
