The Department of Environmental Protection adopted amendments to Ch. 129, Surface Coating Facilities, to expand the list of sources of volatile organic compounds regulated to include exterior siding and tileboard. The amendments lower the threshold above which sources are subject to the rule to 15 pounds per day of volatile organic compounds (from 10 tons per year). Emission limits for metal furniture and flatwood paneling coating operations are more stringent, in some cases, than current limits. The rule took effect April 16, 2011. http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/rules/notices/2011/042011.html.
