The Pollution Control Board proposed amendments to regulations governing sewer discharge criteria. The amendments would incorporate changes that are “identical in substance” to wastewater pretreatment regulations adopted by EPA during the first half of 2023, specifically extending the deadline for existing coal-fired power plants to submit a notice of planned participation for the permanent cessation of coal combustion subcategory to Illinois’ sewer discharge criteria rules for steam electric power generating.
