Indiana: Water

The Water Pollution Control Board adopted amendments to 327 IAC 2-1-6, 327 IAC 2-1.5-8, and 327 IAC 5-10-6 concerning compliance with the bacteriological criteria and the application of a single sample maximum limitation of 235 most probable number or colony forming units/100 ml of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria in waters of the state. http://www.in.gov/legislative/iac/20080416-IR-327060573FRA.xml.html.

Louisiana: Waste

The Department of Environmental Quality amended the Solid Waste regulations, LAC 33:VII.301, 503, 508, 709, 717, and 719. This rule clarifies that a container storing solid waste shall prevent leakage into or out of the container. The rule establishes a 50-foot buffer zone requirement for non-processing transfer stations transferring nonputrescible solid waste, such as construction and/or demolition waste. It also clarifies that all adjoining landowners must sign an affidavit allowing a reduction in a facility's buffer zone requirement.

Maine: Air

The Department of Environmental Protection will conduct a public hearing on proposed amendments to Chapter 115, Major and Minor Source Air Emission License Regulation, and Chapter 149, General Permit for Nonmetallic Mineral Processing Plants. The Department is proposing a new rule that allows most nonmetallic mineral processing plants, defined as any combination of a rock crusher and stationary engine functioning in conjunction, to obtain a permit from the Department without going through the licensing process currently required by Chapter 115. The hearing will be held May 27, 2008.

Maine: Land use

The Board of Environmental Protection seeks public comment on a proposed amendment to Chapter 1262, State-imposed Shore Land Zoning Ordinance for the Town of Steuben. This rule would remove a portion of the Resource Protection District from lots 5 through 9 of the "Tide Mill at Dyer Harbor" Subdivision on the east side of a cove off Dyer Harbor in Steuben. The area had been zoned Resource Protection because it was shown as being in the l00-year floodplain.

Maryland: Air

The Secretary of the Environment adopted amendments to Regulation .30 under COMAR 26.11.19, Volatile Organic Compounds from Specific Processes, and new regulations .01 - .07 under a new chapter, COMAR 26.11.35, Volatile Organic Compounds from Adhesives and Sealants.
