EPA proposed to approve a request from the state of California to reclassify the Coachella Valley ozone nonattainment area from “severe-15” to “extreme” for the 2008 ozone NAAQS.

EPA determined the Imperial County, California nonattainment area attained the 2012 annual fine particulate matter NAAQS by its December 31, 2021, “moderate” area attainment date, and made a clean data determination based on preliminary air quality monitoring data from 2022 that indicates the area continues to attain the NAAQS.

USDA announced phase two of the Emergency Relief Program, which provides assistance to producers who suffered crop losses due to wildfires, hurricanes, floods, derechos, excessive heat, winter storms, freeze (including a polar vortex), smoke exposure, excessive moisture, and qualifying droughts occurring in calendar years 2020 and 2021.
