United States v. Forward, Inc., No. 2:11-cv-00590-EFB (E.D. Cal. Mar. 28, 2012). A settling CAA defendant responsible for violations at the Forward Landfill in Manteca, California, must pay a $200,000 civil penalty, must install new extraction wells and close unneeded wells, must implement specific operations and maintenance actions to minimize air intrusion and the likelihood of subsurface fires, and must replace trucks in its fleet with less polluting vehicles.

EPA announced that it will retain the current secondary NAAQS for the exposure of vegetation to nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide.

United States v. National Cooperative Refinery Ass'n, No. 6:12-cv-01110-EFM-JPO (D. Kan. Mar. 26, 2012). A settling CAA, CERCLA, and EPCRA defendant responsible for violations at its refinery in McPherson, Kansas, and at its related storage facility in Conway, Kansas, must pay a $700,000 civil penalty, including $225,000 to Kansas, must perform supplemental environmental projects valued at approximately $730,000, and must implement injunctive relief to ensure future compliance with risk management program requirements. 

FWS announced a 12-month finding on a petition to list the San Francisco Bay-Delta distinct population segment of longfin smelt as endangered or threatened and to designate critical habitat under the ESA; the agency found that listing this population segment is warranted but precluded by higher priority actions.

NOAA-Fisheries redefined the geographic range of the endangered central California Coast coho salmon to include Aptos and Soquel Creeks.
