Minerals otherwise designated as subject to the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 that are located on acquired federal lands are also subject to the leasing system. [30 U.S.C. §352]

The Secretary of the Interior has the authority to administer mineral leases on federal land. [30 U.S.C. §360]
