The Pollution Control Board adopted amendments to primary drinking water standards. The amendments incorporate changes that are “identical in substance” to drinking water regulations adopted by EPA in the second half of 2022, including by incorporating seven additional alternative test procedures for analyzing contaminants in drinking water. EPA proposed revisions to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for lead and copper under the SDWA, including requiring water systems to replace lead service lines, remove the lead trigger level, reduce the lead action level to 0.010 mg/L, and strengthen tap sampling procedures.

The Department of Health proposed amendments to regulations governing public drinking water. The amendments would establish a maximum contaminant level of 20ppt for six PFAS contaminants: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), and perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA), and perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA). A hearing will be held December 13, 2023. Comments are due December 22, 2023.
