United States v. Interstate Power & Light Co.

A settling CAA defendant responsible for PSD and pollution control violations at power plants in Ottumwa and Lansing, Michigan, and five other coal-fired power plants in Iowa must pay a $1,100,000 civil penalty; must reduce harmful nitrogen oxide, particulate matter, and sulfur dioxide emissions at all seven plants; and must spend $6,000,000 to fund environmental mitigation projects to further reduce emissions and benefit communities adversely affected by the pollution.
