Editors' Summary

New environmental governance (NEG) is emerging around the globe and aims to overcome the limitations of the interventionist state and its market alternative. A significant, yet divisive, aspect of NEG that remains largely overlooked by researchers is collaboration and the conditions that support its successful formation. This Article examines select case studies offering a range of controversial and underresearched mechanisms that may be used to foster successful collaboration and recommends four "groups" of conditions that are found to increase the likelihood of successful collaboration.
