The year 2016 witnessed the adoption or revision of several of China’s environmental laws by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, as well as some major judicial initiatives by the Supreme People’s Court. This Comment summarizes these developments.

Mingqing You is an Associate Professor of Law at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and a researcher at the Gansu Provincial Legal Research Center of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development. Haijing Wang is a Ph.D. candidate at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
