The Department of Health proposed amendments to regulations governing public drinking water. The amendments would establish a maximum contaminant level of 20ppt for six PFAS contaminants: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), and perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA), and perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA). A hearing will be held December 13, 2023. Comments are due December 22, 2023.

The State Water Resources Control Board proposed to establish a primary drinking water standard for hexavalent chromium in the form of a maximum contaminant level of 10 micrograms per liter (µg/L) or 0.010 milligrams per liter, an associated initial detection limit for purposes of reporting of 0.1 µg/L. A hearing will be held August 2, 2023. Comments are due August 4, 2023.

The Environmental Quality Board proposed amendments to Chapter 109 relating to safe drinking water. The proposed amendments would improve public health protection by setting maximum contaminant level goals and maximum contaminant levels for two per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances—perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid. Hearings will be held March 21 through March 25, 2022. Comments are due April 27, 2022.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services proposed to amend N.H. Code Admin. R. Ann. Env-Dw 704.02 and Env-Or 603.03(c). The amendments would reduce the maximum contaminant level for arsenic from .01 mg/L to .005 mg/L for community public water systems and reduce the ambient groundwater quality standard for arsenic from 10 μg/L to 5 μg/L. A hearing will be held February 12, 2020. Comments are due February 21, 2020.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources proposed an amendment to the Water Supply Rule. The amendment would institute a cumulative maximum contaminant level of 20 parts per trillion for five per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances for drinking water, including bottled water, from public water systems.
