The amendments would establish requirements, procedures, and processes for owners of single wall UST systems registered with the Department to be eligible for the grants. The proposed amendments would, among other things, establish requirements for UST system release detection, release reporting, and release response; permanent closure of a UST system; change in service of a UST system; site characterization; corrective action; and UST facility classification. The proposed amendments would, among other things, incorporate changes in federal law, and clarify and strengthen provisions for UST systems that are intended to preserve, and in some cases restore, the physical, chemical, and biological integrity of the air, soils, and waters of the state.
