The Department of Fish and Wildlife proposed to amend Cal. Code Regs. tit. 14, §§106 and 107, and adopt §106.5. The proposed amendments and adoption would implement a Drift Gill Net Transition Program, as mandated by Senate Bill 1017, that incentivizes drift gill net permittees to transition out of the drift gill net shark and swordfish fishery, reduce bycatch, and provide for a sustainable swordfish fishery. A hearing will be held, if requested. Comments are due May 20, 2019. See https://oal.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/166/2019/04/14z-2019.pdf (pp. 532-35).
