The Department of Natural Resources proposed amendments to regulations governing the Illinois Oil and Gas Act. The amendments would improve the processing of drilling unit permit applications, establish a deadline for applications involving drilling in areas of mining activity, and allow communication with permittees through electronic mail. The Department of Natural Resources proposed to amend Ill. Admin. Code tit. 62, §240.1805 and adopt §§240.1880, .1890, .1892, and .1894. The proposed amendments and adoptions would implement recent amendments to the Illinois Oil and Gas Act concerning the underground storage of natural gas to ensure consistency with current policies, increase protections to the people and environment of Illinois, and account for changes in industry practice and activities. Comments are due March 11, 2019.

The Department of Natural Resources proposed amendments to Ill. Admin. Code 62, §240. The proposed amendments would ensure consistency with the Illinois Oil and Gas Act, increase protections to the people and environment of Illinois, account for changes in industry practices and activities, and streamline oil and gas enforcement procedures to increase efficiency, promote voluntary compliance, and deter noncompliance within the regulated community. Comments are due February 4, 2019.
