Defendant, through the corporation of which he was president, Kentucky Liquid Recycling, Inc., caused the discharge of toxic organic pollutants into the sewers of Louisville, Kentucky, and thus into the Ohio River. The court finds defendant guilty of discharging pollutants into the waters of the United States in violation of §§ 301 and 309 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, and of interfering with the proper operation of a sewage treatment works in violation of §§ 301, 307, and 309 of the Act. He is accordingly sentenced to two years imprisonment and fined in the amount of $50,000.
